Firestarters and the Wellbriety Movement:

Firestarters are energizing the Wellbreity Movement in nearly all the states. You can join this exciting opportunity to assist Native American people in their Journey to Wellbriety. Wellbriety means a state of sobriety plus a life that is balanced emotionally, mentally, spiritually and physically.

What Do Firestarters Do:

Firestarters learn to facilitate the culturally appropriate Medicine Wheel and 12 Step Program in an intensive three day and three evening training designed to teach you how to conduct the video series and facilitation process. Firestarters conduct Circles of Recovery in their communities. Circles of Recovery address many different recovery issues: alcoholism, drug addiction, dual diagnosis, domestic violence, and mental health issues.

Participants introduce themselves in this way: "Hello, I'm Jane and I work the 12 Steps." We understand that social and personal issues are usually bundled; i.e. alcoholism often accompanies mental illness. Recovery also includes more than just the individual. Thus, Circles of Recovery can involve individuals, families, couples, teens, and elders. Circles of Recovery can also evolve into a team committed to bringing healing to their communities as well as to themselves.

Talking Circle Chat Room and Discussion Board This is a great opportunity to share your experience, strength and hope. Join us and find out what is happening in the Wellbriety Movement.
