Firestarters
learn to facilitate the culturally appropriate Medicine
Wheel and 12 Step Program in an intensive three
day and three evening training designed to teach
you how to conduct the video series and facilitation
process. Firestarters conduct Circles
of Recovery in their communities. Circles of
Recovery address many different recovery issues:
alcoholism, drug addiction, dual diagnosis, domestic
violence, and mental health issues.
Participants introduce themselves in this way:
"Hello, I'm Jane and I work the 12 Steps."
We understand that social and personal issues
are usually bundled; i.e. alcoholism often accompanies
mental illness. Recovery also includes more than
just the individual. Thus, Circles of Recovery
can involve individuals, families, couples, teens,
and elders. Circles of Recovery can also evolve
into a team committed to bringing healing to
their communities as well as to themselves.
